The greatest advantage of living a coastal Carolina lifestyle is that you’re never stuck wondering what to do with your spare time; there’s always a festival, fair, or charity event to participate in. A lot is going on in November, from 5k runs to Christmas parades. Be sure to mark your calendars for these upcoming local events!
When November rolls around, most of us start thinking about Thanksgiving. But there’s more to look forward to this month besides cranberry sauce and watching the Macy’s Parade on television. Look at what’s happening near The Home Place of Southport!
Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot
When: Thanksgiving Day – November 24th
Where: Wrightsville Beach
On your mark, get set, and GO! This year’s turkey trot is going to be fun for the whole family! What better way to burn off that excess stuffing while having fun for a good cause than joining one of the most anticipated marathons of the year? The Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot supports Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that helps people in your community and around the world build or improve a place they can call home. Runners have a choice between the 5k or 1 mile around the beach. Turkey costumes are encouraged (but not required) for the trot, so be sure to bring your community spirit and game face!

Ocean Isle Christmas Parade

Where: The Museum of Coastal Carolina at Ocean Isle Beach
It’s never too early to get ready for Santa! Prepare to be dazzled by the town of Ocean Isle Beach’s annual Christmas Parade. A variety of performers and floats will be putting on their best show to get you in the spirit to celebrate the upcoming Christmas season. Participants and locals are encouraged to decorate their vehicles or golf carts and join in the fun! It’s sure to be a good time that you can jingle into December. Make Santa proud and stop by to check it out!
Tasty Tunes with a View at the River Hotel of Southport
When: November 30th
Where: River Hotel of Southport
Taking place in the historic and beautiful River Hotel of Southport, Tasty Tunes with a View allows you to enjoy an evening listening to a variety of musical performers while overlooking unbeatable scenic views of Oak Island and Bald Head Island. An evening of food trucks, scenic views, and music await you at this event. It’s the perfect way to end November on the Cape Fear coastline. This event is hosted by Up Your Arts, an organization that supports local performic art talent in the Southport area.
